Marek Zyga, geboren 1968 in Bolesławiec, Polen, ist ein zeitgenössischer Bildhauer, der sich intensiv mit der menschlichen Existenz auseinandersetzt – insbesondere mit dem Körper und seinen Gesten. Fasziniert von Handlungs- und Reaktionsmustern interpretiert er Gesten als Sätze, Sätze als Worte und Worte als Buchstaben – Symbole, die für ihn nicht nur linguistische, sondern künstlerische Elemente sind, die Bewegung, Emotion und Rätselhaftigkeit verkörpern. Seine figurativen Skulpturen – Büsten, Torsi und Köpfe – tragen oft symbolische und erotische Untertöne und verbinden klassische Formensprache mit surrealen Details.
Zygas künstlerischer Prozess ist intuitiv und haptisch: Er modelliert direkt in Ton, ohne Skizzen, und bewahrt so eine rohe, unmittelbare Verbindung zum Material. Seine Werke sind keine Abbilder realer Menschen, sondern entstehen aus Imagination, Erinnerung und traumähnlichen Zuständen. Bronzeabgüsse, Pigmente und Email geben den Skulpturen ihre finale Gestalt und durchdringen sie mit physischer wie metaphysischer Präsenz.

Letters and numbers make frequent appearances in Zyga’s pieces, functioning as visual codes and forming a hybrid language between image and text. His art explores the intersection between form and content, tradition and innovation, reality and dreams.
Marek Zyga
Marek Zyga (born in 1968 in Bolesławiec, Poland) is a contemporary sculptor who is deeply engaged with the human condition, particularly the body and its gestures. Fascinated by patterns of behaviour and reaction, he interprets gestures as sentences, sentences as words and words as letters—symbols that for him are not mere linguistic tools, but artistic elements embodying movement, emotion and mystery. His figurative sculptures—busts, torsos and heads—often carry symbolic and erotic undertones, blending classical forms with surreal detail.
Zyga’s artistic process is intuitive and tactile: he sculpts directly in clay without sketches, establishing a raw and direct connection to the material. His works are not modelled after real people, but instead emerge from imagination, memory and dream-like states. Bronze castings, pigments and enamels finalize each piece, infusing them with both a physical and a metaphysical presence.
